It was probably a corrupt codec in windows 7 and a lot of normal people do not know how to correct that issue. Once I was able to import the file, I didn't have too much trouble learning how to use the software, and except for a few glitches, it worked well enough that I was able to edit a short video without too much trouble. Any other program or hardware will give you the wrong codec therefor making it impossible to edit the clip. dont think so.
